Muirneag Art & Texture Imports

Muirneag Art & Texture ImportsTerms & Conditions The following terms and conditions apply to all orders for the purchase of goods from the Muirneag Art & Texture Imports site.

You may only place an order for goods if you agree to these terms and conditions. By placing an order you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions as governing your order.

This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

TERMS & CONDITIONS – the ‘legal bit’:

1. We have made every effort to display as accurately as possible the colours and details of our products that appear on the site. However, as the actual colours you see will depend on your own system, and more especially as each item is crafted by hand, we cannot guarantee that you will receive products with precisely the same colours as your monitor showed. All products have been fairly described and the weights, dimensions and capacities given are approximate only. (Please note, all articles shown at Muirneag are handmade, and slight variations are to be expected – these are part of the charm and authenticity of artisan-made rather than machine-made items.)

2. All items are subject to availability. We reserve the right to withdraw any item from sale at any time should it not meet our high quality standards.

3. All information including prices are correct at the time of publishing. We make every effort to maintain prices, although it may be necessary to change prices either up or down.

4. Note: It may be necessary to adjust prices in the event of an increase in VAT or as the result of an international price increase. Customers are entitled to a full refund if this is not acceptable. This is in addition to your statutory rights

5. The price we charge will be that quoted on the site at the time you place your order. However, you may find a different price should you look on our site at a different time. Some of our processes are manual, so despite our best efforts and constant monitoring, errors will inevitably occur from time to time. On discovering that errors exist, we will try to respond immediately to correct them and to minimise inconvenience and any disappointment that might be caused.

6. We will endeavour to deliver your order within the delivery times quoted on the site, generally within 14 days. You should note delays may be beyond our control in regard to last delivery dates before holiday periods (such as Christmas). Please also note the ‘home’ and ‘away’ icons which will indicate if we are currently away on a buying trip.

7. A delivery charge for post and packaging of £3.95 is payable on all UK orders placed on this website. In the case of international orders, the charge will be quoted to you at the time you place an order. Occasionally, if an item is out of stock, we may despatch part of your order to you, with the remainder following later. The delivery cost will be charged when the first part of the order is sent to you.

8. All offers are subject to merchandise availability. Certain countries may have restrictions on our delivering some items. Where such restrictions exist, we will notify you as soon as possible. See Customs note below.

9. In all respects, UK law governs all contracts formed between Muirneag Art & Texture Imports and customers as a result of using this site. All users hereby submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the UK courts.

10. Until a customer's credit or debit card has been charged for the sale of our products or services, no contract will exist or apply between a customer and Muirneag Art & Texture Imports. The charging of the customer's card will be deemed our acceptance of their offer and the effective communication of our acceptance to them. This is to be interpreted and enforced with the laws of the UK in its entirety and will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

Returns and Refunds

If you are not satisified with the quality of any items received, please return them for a full refund, or if you prefer, replacement with the same item or another of equal value. We want you to be happy.

Damaged or Faulty Deliveries

If an item is received damaged, or in the unfortunate event that a purchase proves to be unsatisfactory in use due to defective workmanship or faulty material, you can return them us for refund or replacement. Please include the original packaging as well as the damaged merchandise for postal inspection if possible.

Gift Items

We want you to love the item you purchased or received as a gift. If you any reason you would like to exchange it we are happy to replace it with another selection. Just repack the item in its original packaging and return it to us via an insured courier, (e.g., UPS, FedEx, Parcel Force, Royal Mail or US Post) and retain your receipt, as we can not be responsible otherwise for items damaged or lost in the post.

Customs

When ordering goods for delivery overseas you may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the package reaches the specified destination. Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. Additionally, please note that when ordering from our site, you are considered the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods. We would like our international customers and customers dispatching products internationally to be aware that cross-border deliveries are subject to opening and inspection by customs authorities

Privacy

We will never share your details, and will only use your personal details to fulfil your order. In the event of there being a problem with your order we will communicate with you via e-mail, telephone or letter. We may also use them to send you information we think will be of interest to you – please let us know if you do not wish to receive it.

Health and Safety

Muirneag Art & Texture Imports trade in decorative and collectible items to enhance the home. We do not sell products for purchase by children. If you are under 18, you may use our site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Some items may have properties that make them potentially unsafe if misused. Always follow careful safety practices – some examples are listed here for information purposes:

Flammable Items

Always ensure that care is taken around open flame. Never leave candles or incense or oil burners unattended, and never leave candleholders on unprotected surfaces – be sure they are safely and securely sitting on heat-resistant surfaces. Avoid using candles or other heat sources around fabric items, and especially around drafts, open windows, or curtains.

Breakable Items

Many of our hand-crafted pieces may be decorated with small beads of glass, shell, or natural seed or with metal or twisted wire ornamentation. Others may be trimmed or fringed with woven materials. All such items may present a choking hazard to infants or small children – remember to keep all such collectibles out of reach of small hands.

Food Safety

Muirneag Art & Texture Imports will always work with our artisan producers to ensure that all paints, dyes and other materials used in all procedures are as safe and non-toxic as possible, both in the interests of the people working the material and of you, the customer. However, natural materials can often cause irritation to those with allergies or sensitive skin. Please ensure that items are kept out of reach of children and pets and others at risk, and that food only comes in contact with those items and containers designated for food use.

Manufacturing Processes

The vision of Muirneag Art & Texture Imports is to work with artisan producers both to preserve traditional skills and to enhance the dignity, self-reliance and educational opportunities generated by the financial independence created through fair trade practices. We will particularly concentrate on establishing economic links with regions and countries which are less developed or which have been economically disadvantaged by unemployment, natural or man-made disasters. However, to ensure that trade is truly fair and truly sustainable, we will work with producers to help provide and develop the use of materials and processes which are non-damaging to the environment and non-harmful to those working with them. We will not purchase goods from producers who use forced or underage labour, unfair wages or discriminatory practices. We will encourage producers to use only non-toxic substances, and will never knowingly sell items containing substances such as asbestos, PCBs, PVC, or other materials which could be hazardous to the producer, their environment, or the consumer. Our aim is to source natural, sustainably grown or locally sourced, or recycled materials, with income fairly dispersed to producers and suppliers, to ensure that economic growth does not come at the cost of health or fair practice.
