Water hyacinth is a lovely but invasive non-native plant which is damaging the ecosystem of Africa's largest freshwater lake. Some groups living on the shores of Lake Victoria are fighting back by harvesting the plant and using its fibres to produce everything from paper to sturdy woven furniture.
